The WCBCC Judging Committee is an Operations committee responsible for implementing judging and scoring of the WCBCC contest and ensuring the integrity of the judging process and contest, according to official contest rules.
Involvement & Time Commitment
- WCBCC pre, during and post event
- Meetings vary; January - April with committees
Qualifications
- Knowledge of WCBCC competition, rules and contestants.
- For Judging, prior training and thorough knowledge of contest rules, scoring and judging procedures preferred
- *Typically must be available to work Wednesday - Sunday of the WCBCC.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Judging
- Responsible for scheduling, judging, scoring, tabulation and reporting for all food contests entered by WCBCC competing teams.
- Contests include:
- Ribs, Whole Hog, Shoulder – blind, on site and finals.
- Patio Porker
- Sauce (tomato, vinegar and mustard)
- Anything but (poultry, seafood, beef, exotic)
- Hot wings contest
- Turkey Smoke contest
- Jr. Barbecue Cooking Contest
- Duties include inviting, confirming and assigning MIM certified judges and coordinating committee volunteers to assist judges.
- Operate judging tent, conduct cooks’ meetings, judges’ briefings.
- Work with CPA sponsor who enter scoring information and provide scoring tabulations to all teams.
- May be assigned in the areas of Judges’ Check-in, scoring, tent coordination, blind area coordination, meat inspection or other.
- Attend committee orientation and training.
- Responsible for setup of the Judging Tent (coordinate with MIM operations staff and Production)
- Clean and Maintain the Judging/Registration tent
- Set up curtains, bike rack, tables, chairs pre-WCBCC, restage the area between contestant check in and out to accommodate judges.
