Get Connected Icon WCBCC CONTESTANTS Volunteers typically work 4 hour shifts on assigned days. Hours of operation vary depending upon event & non-event days. WCBCC CONTESTANT Committee shifts typically begin on-site beginning the Wednesday prior to WCBCC through the Sunday following WCBCC. Some roles, specifically Ambassadors, are required to be on-site Wednesday through Saturday of WCBCC.

Description

The WCBCC Contestants Committee is an Operations committee responsible for ensuring a smooth experience for all WCBCC contestants by providing critical information and assistance to all competitors.

 

Involvement & Time Commitment

  • WCBCC pre, during and post event
  • Meetings vary; January - April with committees

 

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of WCBCC competition, rules and contestants.
  • *Typically must be available to work Saturday through Tuesday prior to WCBCC and / or Wednesday - Sunday of the WCBCC, depending upon specific role within the committee..

 

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Contestants
    • Serve as ambassadors to competition teams.  Each Ambassador is assigned a category (Patio Porker, Rib, Shoulder, Whole Hog). Each assigned to several teams of their assigned category.
    • Contact teams before the Festival and serve as main interface between MIM and assigned teams pre, post and throughout.
    • Communicate with volunteer leadership to ensure contestant questions and concerns are addressed.
    • Assist with load in/out, site preparation and other team needs, ensuring that teams receive personal attention.
    • Distribute wristbands and collect liability statements at Cook’s meeting.
    • Assemble and distribute goody bags for teams at event.
    • Register teams, assign trash containers, and coordinate other giveaways.
    • Coordinate with electrical desk and MFD for team check-in.
    • Answer team questions.
    • Attend committee orientation and training.
