Get Connected Icon Communications Volunteers typically work 4 hour shifts on assigned days. Hours of operation vary depending upon event & non-event days. Communications Committee shifts typically begin on-site beginning the Wednesday prior to WCBCC through the Sunday following WCBCC.

Description

The Communications Committee is an Operations committee consisting of a small group of volunteers responsible for two vital on-site roles.  The first is the maintenance and inventory of radios and communications equipment.  The second is to serve as the on-site information hub for staff, volunteers, vendors, security, and emergency services.

 

Involvement & Time Commitment

  • Event long
  • Days and evenings pre, during, and post events

 

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of MIM event layout
  • Able to maintain level of calm during all situations
  • Understanding of digital communications systems a plus
  • (Space on this committee is limited.)

 

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain inventory and control of communications equipment during the events
  • Provide radio assistance according to MIM policies
  • Maintain a detailed Communications Log for each channel
  • Keep radio operators informed of key information
  • Provide replacement equipment to individuals on-site
  • Coordinate WCBCC Swine Line (event information line)
  • Attend Committee Meetings
